What AFBytes displays from publishers
AFBytes displays the headline, short publisher-supplied description or snippet, image URL when provided by the publisher, source attribution, and an outbound link to the original publisher article. AFBytes does not reproduce the full article text of source publishers on AFBytes itself; the full article is reached by following the 'Read full story' link to the publisher's own site.
AI processing of publisher content
To produce editorial scaffolding (briefs, perspective lenses, why-it-matters notes, search-engine titles, ranking signals), AFBytes may transmit publisher article metadata, descriptions, and — where available through public-web extraction — article text to third-party AI providers (currently xAI for text and OpenAI for cover imagery). The AI-generated outputs displayed on AFBytes are AFBytes' editorial commentary about the reporting, not republished publisher text. AFBytes relies on fair-use principles for this indexing, commentary, and reader-navigation activity and does not display the publisher's article text on AFBytes itself. Publishers who do not wish their content used for this purpose may request exclusion as described below.
How to submit a DMCA takedown notice
To submit a notice under 17 U.S.C. §512(c), email contact-us@afbytes.com with 'DMCA Takedown' in the subject line and include each of the following: (1) a physical or electronic signature of the rights holder or an authorized agent; (2) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (or, for multiple works, a representative list); (3) identification of the material claimed to be infringing on AFBytes, with the AFBytes URL and any article identifier; (4) your contact information (name, mailing address, telephone number, email); (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law; and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder. Notices that omit required elements may delay review.
Publisher exclusion requests
Publishers who wish AFBytes to exclude their domain entirely from indexing — including from AI-assisted editorial outputs derived from their content — may email contact-us@afbytes.com with 'Publisher Exclusion' in the subject line, identifying the domain(s) and providing contact information confirming editorial control of those domains. AFBytes honors verified exclusion requests on a forward-looking basis.
AI-generated cover image takedown
AFBytes' AI-generated cover images are stylized illustrations not intended to depict any real person, brand, trademark, or work. Persons who believe an AI-generated image inadvertently resembles them or their work, or rights holders who believe an image infringes a trademark, publicity right, or other right, may request removal at contact-us@afbytes.com with 'Image Removal' in the subject line. AFBytes reviews such requests in good faith and may remove or replace the image.
Review and response
AFBytes reviews takedown and removal reports in good faith. AFBytes may remove, replace, or limit content where appropriate; may decline requests that appear unfounded or incomplete; and may forward notices to source publishers when the disputed material originated with them. AFBytes is not a substitute for direct contact with the original publisher when the dispute concerns the original publisher's content.
Counter-notification
If material you are responsible for was removed in response to a takedown notice and you believe the removal was the result of mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification under 17 U.S.C. §512(g) by emailing contact-us@afbytes.com with 'DMCA Counter-Notice' in the subject line and including the elements required by §512(g).
Repeat infringers
AFBytes has adopted, and reasonably implements, a policy of terminating in appropriate circumstances the access of repeat infringers and of bad-faith submitters of takedown notices.
DMCA designated agent
AFBytes is in the process of designating an agent with the U.S. Copyright Office under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(2). Until that designation is final and listed in the Copyright Office directory, takedown notices submitted to contact-us@afbytes.com will be reviewed and actioned on the same basis. Once the designation is complete, the agent's name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address will be listed in this section.
